A fryer oil filter machine pumps the hot oil out of your fryer, strains the crumbs and broken-off batter out of it, and sends it back into the vat. Keeping the oil clean is what keeps the food tasting right, and it is the cheapest way to get more services out of a drum of oil. Any kitchen with fried food on the menu does this job every day, whether that is a fish and chip shop, a burger bar or a pub kitchen.

Our range of commercial fryer filter machines covers manual units, where a staff member pumps the oil through the filter, and automatic ones that run on power and can filter while the fryer is still in use. Get better use from your deep fryer, with reliable shipping anywhere in Australia.

These are the top FAQs for Commercial Fryer Filter Machines

Why bother filtering the oil?

It does three things at once: better food, cheaper oil and a safer kitchen. Running the oil through a filter takes out the debris that comes off the food, so flavours stop carrying from one item to the next and you are not frying in sediment.

Keeping the oil in that condition also extends the number of services you get from it before it has to be changed, and taking the crumbs out means less of the burnt residue that feeds a grease fire.

How does an oil filter machine work?

It draws the hot oil up into an internal filter, takes out the crumbs and pieces of food that have broken off during frying, then returns it to the vat to keep cooking. An oil filter system can be used while the fryer is in use, so you are not waiting for the oil to cool before you filter it.

Because the debris comes out as you go rather than at the end of the night, less of it bakes onto the inside of the vat. That makes the boil out with cleaning products quicker and saves labour hours.

Manual or automatic?

Those are the two forms. Manual operation, as the name suggests, needs a member of staff to pump the oil through the filter. Automatic filters do it for you but need a power source to run.

How often do I change the filter paper?

Regularly, and the exact interval depends on the size of your fryer, what you are cooking and how hard you use it. Most restaurants find a fresh filter every five to eight uses is enough. If the oil is starting to degrade, change the filter as well, so you are not carrying the old oil's residue into the fresh batch.

Each brand and model has slightly different care instructions, so check them for the machine you have.

Is an automatic filter worth it?

For a busy fryer line, yes. You are not filtering at the end of the shift, and nobody is standing there pumping oil through by hand. The oil also lasts longer, so you turn it over less often and deep clean the fryer less often.

Does filtering make the kitchen safer?

It helps. Dirty oil spits more, so keeping the crumbs out of it means less oil on the floor and on the bench, and less of the burnt residue that can catch. Paired with a working exhaust canopy, that is most of the fire risk around a fryer dealt with.

Clean oil also keeps the stainless vat cleaner, so the deep cleans come around less often.
