Countertop food displays put prepared food at eye level on the counter, where it sells itself. They suit cafes, bakeries, delis and takeaway counters with no room for a full cabinet.

Countertop units come heated, chilled and ambient, and the choice follows the food rather than the counter. See cold food displays, hot food displays and ambient food displays.

These are the top FAQs for Counter Top Food Displays

Heated, chilled or ambient?

Hot food needs a heated unit, anything with dairy, meat or seafood needs chilled, and bread and packaged goods are fine ambient.

See counter top hot food displays.

How much counter space do I need?

The unit's footprint plus clearance for the condenser or elements. Boxing a chilled unit into a tight corner is the usual cause of poor performance.

Dimensions are on each product page.

Self-serve or staff-served?

Check which side the doors open. Staff-served units open at the back; self-serve units open at the front.

Chilled grab-and-go is in countertop display fridges.

How often should stock be rotated?

Through the day, following your food safety plan. Counter displays sit in a warm room, so the cabinet is working harder than a back-of-house fridge.

Check with food thermometers.

Do countertop displays need a dedicated circuit?

Most run from a standard outlet, but check the load if several appliances share the bench.

Each product page lists the requirement.

How do I know a door seal has gone?

Ice around the frame, condensation on the glass or a seal that no longer grips a sheet of paper closed in the door. A failing seal makes the unit run constantly.

Seals are replaceable on most cabinets.
