Water Dispensers

A commercial water dispenser gives staff and guests chilled or ambient water on tap without bottles or jugs to refill. Water dispensers suit staff rooms, gyms, offices, waiting areas and self-serve stations in cafes and hotels.

Most units are either mains-connected, plumbed straight into the water supply with a filter, or bottle-fed from a large refill bottle. Each product page lists the connection type, temperatures and capacity. For self-serve juice or iced tea, see commercial beverage dispensers.

These are the top FAQs for Water Dispensers

Mains-connected or bottle-fed?

Mains-connected dispensers never run out and have no bottles to store or lift, but need a water line and usually a filter. Bottle-fed units go anywhere with a power point and suit sites where plumbing is not practical.

For hot water at volume, hot water urns are the better fit.

Can a water dispenser serve hot water?

Some models offer hot as well as chilled and ambient, often with a child-safety lock. It varies by model, so check the product page before you buy.

Staff rooms usually pair a dispenser with a commercial microwave and a commercial upright fridge.

How often does a water dispenser need cleaning?

Follow the manufacturer's schedule for sanitising and filter changes. It sits in the product documentation and depends on use and water quality.

Keep the drip tray clean daily, and keep the unit out of direct sun.

Where should it go?

Somewhere people pass anyway, near a power point and, for mains units, a water line. Keep clearance at the back for ventilation.

For a full staff kitchenette, see staff rooms.

Do water dispensers need a filter?

Mains-connected units do, and the filter needs changing on schedule. Filtered water tastes better and protects the unit from scale.

Check the filter type and interval on the product page.

How much water does a dispenser deliver per hour?

Chilled output is listed per model in litres per hour. In a gym or busy staff room, output matters more than tank size.

Size it on the busiest ten minutes rather than the day, because that is when a queue forms at the tap.
