Commercial dishwasher sinks are the benches and sinks that sit either side of the machine: a soiled side for scraping and pre-rinsing, and a clean side for racking out. A commercial sink for dishwasher work is matched to the machine rather than bought separately from it.

A restaurant dishwasher sink is usually a single or double bowl with drainer, sized to the machine's height so racks slide straight in. See commercial dishwashers, commercial stainless steel sinks and commercial rinse jets.

These are the top FAQs for Commercial Dishwasher Sinks

Why does the sink have to match the dishwasher?

Racks are slid from the bench into the machine. If the heights do not line up, staff lift every rack instead of sliding it, which slows service and causes breakages.

Machines are in under bench dishwashers and passthrough dishwashers.

Single or double bowl?

A double bowl lets you soak in one side and rinse in the other. A single bowl plus a long drainer suits sites where most items go straight into the machine.

Bowl and drainer sizes are listed per product, so measure the gap in the bench run first.

Do I still need a separate pot sink?

Usually yes, and in most councils a hand basin as well. Requirements are set locally, so check before the fit-out is built.

See pot washers and hand wash basins.

What about pre-rinsing?

A rinse jet over the soiled side clears plates before they reach the machine, which keeps wash water cleaner for longer.

Which side should the soiled bench be on?

Whichever lets staff work in one direction: soiled in, clean out. Reversing it mid-service is how clean plates get contaminated.

What grade of stainless should I look for?

304 is the food-safety grade used in Australian commercial kitchens. Lower grades rust at the welds, so check the grade stated on the product page.

See stainless steel equipment.
