A commercial gas cooktop gives you open burners to cook on in pots, pans and woks, with a flame you turn up and down by hand. Put six or eight burners on the line and the kitchen can run several menu items at different temperatures at once. Every pan you already own works on a gas burner.

Our commercial gas cooktops include small single-burner models for a food truck up to large six and eight burner cooktops for a high-turnover kitchen, so you can buy the size that suits your business at its current size, then size up as your business grows. Delivered anywhere in Australia with nationwide shipping.

These are the top FAQs for Commercial Gas Cooktops

Which cooktop suits a busy kitchen?

If you have a high-demand kitchen that either seats a large number of people or has an especially high turnover, you’ll want a model of gas cooktop that can keep up. We recommend choosing an option with six or eight burners, giving you plenty of space to prepare multiple menu items at the same time at varying temperatures.

To accompany your gas cooktop, you may want to have a separate food warmer to maintain the quality and safety of your dishes before you serve them. We recommend either an induction food warmer for an energy-efficient choice or a bain marie for serving your food to customers.

How many burners can I get?

Yes, you can find a wide range of sizes in our gas cooktop collection, starting with single-burner models, ranging up to six and eight-burner models. You can also get sizes in between, with four-burner Commercial Gas Cooktops being a popular choice for many restaurants.

Depending on your menu, you may have the space for a large model but still want to combine cooking methods. For example, a two-burner cooktop paired with a combi oven gives you more ways to cook in the same floor space.

Gas or induction?

Gas heats the pan with a flame under it. Many cooks find a flame easier to judge by eye, gas stands up to heavy daily use, and every pan in the kitchen works on it.

Induction heats the pan itself with magnetic induction, so it uses less power than an electric hob, heats faster, holds a very precise temperature, and the glass top is cool enough to wipe down soon after service. The catch is the pans: induction only works with cast iron, stainless steel and other magnetic cookware, so glass, aluminium and copper-bottomed pots have to be replaced.

What safety features should I look for?

Flame failure is the main one. If the flame blows out, the gas shuts off instead of filling the kitchen.

Many models also have a splash guard at the back, which catches the food and oil that would otherwise spray onto the wall and into the ventilation. These splashbacks are usually stainless steel, so they wipe clean.

What do they cost?

There is a model for most capacities and budgets. Our smaller models start as low as $240, with the top-of-the-line, larger models ranging up to $9,500.

How do I clean a gas cooktop?

Cleaning your gas cooktop keeps it food safe and makes it last longer. Before you start cleaning, let your cooktop cool down until it’s safe to touch. Next, spray it with a gentle cleaner that can break down oil and wipe it thoroughly with a clean cloth.

If food has spilled over during the cooking process and become baked onto the stainless steel surface, you may want to use a cream cleaner to help break it down. Alternatively, you can also use a paste made from baking soda and some water. Apply it all over the area you need to clean, allow it to sit for several minutes and then use a scratch-safe sponge to remove everything.

Can I use one in a food truck?

Yes, some of our smaller models are compact and lightweight enough to be used in a number of locations - including food trucks. Look for options with a single burner and check the gas type suits being moved around and doesn’t require more permanent installation. If you’re unsure which model you can use in a food truck, you can contact our support team, and we’ll be happy to help with a personal recommendation.

What brands do you stock?

We stock the main brands in the industry, so you can get the model and the make you want. Some of the most popular brands include GasMax, Thor, Anvil and Luus.

What else are commercial gas cooktops called?

You will see commercial gas cook top, commercial gas stove oven, commercial gas stove top, commercial burner gas stove and professional gas range tops used for the same kind of equipment. The name changes with the supplier and the region, not the job it does. Compare models on capacity, construction and the specification on each product page, and check the full commercial gas cooktops range to see every option side by side.
